Journal 5 - Matthew 5

Scripture - Jesus said v2: "And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:"

Observation - I have read the sermon on the mount several times and the beatitudes, but never noticed his actions before the teaching. I think we look for the words to compel our actions, but we miss the actual actions of Jesus himself. I have. I love that it says he opens his mouth to speak. unlike some that think only actions speak.

Application - I need to be balanced in how I talk to others about Jesus. It takes not only words, but actions and it takes not only actions, but words to love others to Christ.

Prayer - Lord, I want to model the teachings that you lament on in Matthew 5. I desire to live them out and ask for your help to do these things. I'm glad that this time through the Gospels that I am paying attention to your movements, not just the words on the page. Jesus, teach me to be balanced as you are in presenting YOU as the Good News to everyone. I love you.
